Getting Started in ALF Connect

Activating Your Account
If you are an ALF Senior Fellow, check your inbox for an email from connect@alfnational.org with subject “Activate your ALF Connect account today!” sent Thursday, February 22 at 9am in your local timezone. Simply click the “Activate your account” button at the button of that email. VIEW HOW-TO VIDEO

Updating Your Email Address
Send request to connect@alfnational.org.

Not Receiving Emails from ALF Connect?
Add connect@alfnational.org to the Address Book and/or Safe Sender list with your email provider.

Navigating Main Menu
Once you’ve logged in, the menu bar at the very top includes shortcuts for people searching, writing posts and check-ins, viewing notifications, and sending direct messages. VIEW HOW-TO VIDEO

Updating Your Profile
On the far right of the top menu bar, click the dropdown arrow, select ‘My profile’ and click ‘Edit’ next to each of the sections to complete your profile. Adding a Profile Photo in the top section and completing the ‘Affiliations & Interests’ section will be the most helpful for building our online community.

Update Contact & Privacy Settings
Contact information can also be edited by clicking the top right dropdown and selecting ‘My profile’. Click ‘Edit’ next to the ‘Contact’ section on the right. By default, all Senior Fellow contact information is private to the user and admin. Return to the top right dropdown and click ‘My settings’ and ‘Privacy’ to make pieces of your contact info visible to all users.

Searching Using People Module
Be sure to update your own profile and Affiliations & Interests (top right dropdown and ‘My profile’) to enable the most accurate and robust People search capabilities on ALF Connect. As our colleagues activate their accounts and fill in elements of their profile, People module searches will become the most popular feature on this platform. VIEW HOW-TO VIDEO

Adjust Notification Settings
Click the top right dropdown, click ‘My settings’ and then select ‘Notifications’.

Privacy Policy
No information will be shared without User consent at the top right dropdown, ‘My settings’ and ‘Privacy’. VIEW FULL PRIVACY POLICY

Terms of Use
Only ALF Senior Fellows, current Fellows, or ALF staff will be granted User accounts. Users may report objectionable material which will be moderated by administrators. VIEW FULL TERMS OF USE
